Lighting Design: François Guillet
For the past 12 years, Cyber Fest Noz has taken place in Brittany (France) as one of the major cultural events for Bretons. For seven hours on May 22nd multiple bands had Breton people all over the world dancing via the Cyber Fest Noz website.

This year, over 200,000 people were connected via the Internet to the event, which took place at the Music Hall in Rennes. To transmit the concert via the Web, broadcast staff used eight high definition cameras, as well as a package of Martin lighting and control gear provided by rental company MES of Nantes at the request of SIWA director Jose Nedelec, who handled technical direction and audio for the event.

Lighting designer was François Guillet of Lumières Utiles who chose to use a Martin Maxxyz Compact lighting controller along with three MaxModules: MaxModule Button™, MaxModule Submaster™ and MaxModule Playback™. The Martin range of stand-alone MaxModules allows for customization of the specific control demands of a show, effectively allowing users to design their own console.

"It has been a great pleasure to work with a Maxxyz,” Guillet commented. “The desk is so easy to use that I can operate and create the lighting at the same time without losing time searching for my different views or cue lists. I especially appreciate the MaxModule Button. I use it to send and stop effects and breaks and am able to flash or toggle my cue lists in a very easy way."

The Maxxyz Compact and MaxModules were used to control 16 Martin MAC 700 Profiles™, 6 MAC 2000 Washes™, and 8 MAC 600s™, as well as 48 channels of conventional lights and 10 blinder effects. Guillet created his design using the Martin ShowDesigner™ (MSD), Martin’s easy to use lighting and set design software package.
