Finns honor mayor with lightshow during DC visit

September 11, 2000

Artist Annikki Luukela together with Current Events Intl. supplied 42 MAC 500 and 600s for a Finnish Embassy Lighting Display at the South Elevator and Mezzanine of the DuPont Metro Station, Washington, DC.

Officially opened by DC Mayor Anthony Williams, Siitonen, and Metro managers the exhibit featured a colorful wash on the ceiling of the escalator including the projection of star patterns and cobalt and purple constellations.

The transformation from a stark, gray concrete bunker to colorful pleasing display was dramatic and added a bit of color to the daily commute of thousands of DC commuters.
