Bright idea on shores of Nile

October 05, 2000

Although themed environments are popping up all over the globe, it isn’t every country that has caught on to the trend. In Egypt, club/restaurant Coco Jungle is being billed as one of the first themed clubs in Egypt. Located just outside of Cairo on the shores of the Nile River, Coco Jungle is one of the most popular nightspots in Egypt.

Coco Jungle, and accompanying boat restaurant Le Pacha 1901, have installed a number of Martin Professional luminaires designed to create different moods and looks. In fact, Coco Jungle warns guests to be prepared for major changes in mood, atmosphere, and even weather.

Keeping with the jungle theme, trees, bamboo and water play a major role in the interior design. Coco Jungle is equipped with 4 MAC 300 wash lights, 4 MAC 250 profile spots, 2 Voyagers, and a Jem TechnoFog for added effect, all controlled from a Martin LightJockey controller. The abundant bamboo designs that surround the dance floor have turned out to be an excellent surface for color changing projection.

Adjacent restaurant Le Pacha 1901, located on a boat on the Nile, treats guests to a unique dining experience. Guests can dine on the deck or take a swing on a glass covered dance floor, which covers a pool of water. Four RoboColor II’s and one RoboColor IIX, placed in protective glass encasings in the water under the dance floor, provide attractive color changes.

Additionally, four Exterior 600’s illuminate the façade of the boat, which can be seen from the opposite shore of the Nile. The Exterior’s are controlled via a Martin LightJockey controller. All Martin equipment for Coco Jungle and Le Pacha 1901 was supplied by Media International Trading of Egypt through Martin’s Middle Eastern agent AMAC.
