Until now we have specified that all MAC 550 and MAC 700 fixtures should be fitted with a 6.3 amp slow-blow main fuse, P/N 05020020, when operating at nominal power voltages of 208 - 240 V.
Current draw in these fixtures can come close to the level at which the fuse will blow. We are now specifying a 10 amp slow-blow main fuse, P/N 05020025, for all MAC 550 and MAC 700 fixtures operating at 208 - 240 V. The 10 A fuse still gives the required level of protection but the extra headroom eliminates any risk of fuses blowing unnecessarily.
10 amp fuses have been installed in new MAC 550 and MAC 700 fixtures leaving the factory from the start of October 2007. If you are running existing MAC 550 or MAC 700 fixtures on 208 - 240 V, we recommend that you replace 6.3 A main fuses with 10 A fuses at their next service.
