Top ‘Performances’ at 15th Essence Awards

The Essence Awards were taped for the first time in Los Angeles at the Universal Amphitheatre on Friday, May 31 under a MAC 2000 rig.

Lighting Designer Don Morgan incorporated 6 of Martin’s new MAC 2000 Performance framing and animation profile spots, which worked alongside 18 electronic ballast MAC 2000 profiles. Lighting for the event was supplied by PLS.

Aired on FOX TV on June 6, this was the 15th year that the Essence Awards have brought together celebrity honorees with community humanitarians and activists to pay tribute to the achievements of pre-eminent African-Americans. Hosted by Actor/comedian Steve Harvey honorees included Janet Jackson, Halle Berry, Alicia Keys and many more.
