Martin solutions for the Hotel Martinez in Cannes

During the last Cannes Film Festival on the French Mediterranean coast, the Hotel Martinez invested in 12 Martin Architectural Exterior 600 lamps in order to animate its 63 meter long and 31 meter high façade. The hotel was bathed in a wash from Martin Exterior luminaires, the facade continuously changing color to match the spirited mood of the festival itself.

IP 66 rated, 4 of the luminaires were installed directly at the front entrance while 8 were placed on a self-held truss (Eurotruss FD34) 25 meters down from the hotel, in front of a large pool.

In order to create an even diffusion of light on the various sharp faces of the façade, the 4 front lamps were equipped with a 65° large beam lens. The remaining 8 Exterior 600s used a standard lens with a zoom set-up, generating a 25° beam.

From yellow-orange shades to mauve and blue tints, the white walls of the hotel were animated with 2 more MAC 500 yokes used to project the hotel logo on the building’s seaward side.

During this year’s two weeks of Cannes, the Exteriors were controlled by the Martin ProSceniumDMX software. Thanks to its standalone calendar functions, long color fades and loops could be triggered automatically from 8:30 PM to 2:00 AM.

Like a lighthouse landmark, the Hotel Martinez took its own place in a great movie production in which Exterior 600s were the stars.
