Royal Festival Hall 50th Anniversary

2001年11月21日

Earlier this year, London’s most famous performance venue celebrated its 50th Birthday. Nigel March, RFH’s Head of Production, transformed the building’s white marble facades into a ‘blaze of colorful architectural lighting’ during the two week celebrations.

Working closely with his production LX, Barry Waterman, and the team of technicians at the South Bank, Nigel used a mixture of Martin Exterior 600s and MAC 2000s.

The Exterior 600s were used to light part of the building and accentuate the riverside balcony. The MAC 2000s, covered with specially adapted weatherised domes, were used to project both Royal Festival Hall and the sponsor’s logos onto the front of the building.

A Gala Dinner, which was attended by Prince Charles and the Duke of Kent, was held with the ballroom transformed into a 450 seat silver service venue. Nigel and his team were also responsible for the lighting here and chose a newly acquired stock of MiniMACs to project various sponsors’ logos onto the relevant tables. Essential Lighting supplied the lighting fixtures.
