The Energy of Sevilla Las Vegas
2003年03月04日
If you’re looking for a night on the town full of life affirming energy, Sevilla in Las Vegas is the place. It’s hard to imagine the amount of enthusiasm that must emanate from Sevilla Las Vegas on a typical night. A dinner show with the Queen of Energy herself, Charo; a powerful lightshow featuring the dance-inducing energy of the new MX-10 scanner and Atomic 3000 strobe; and a Mach speaker system that...well…rocks!
One of Vegas’ largest nightclubs, Sevilla, is a spectacular 35,000 square-foot facility that hosts a Spanish steakhouse and high energy Latin nightclub, not to mention eight dinner shows a week starring the world famous Charo and her international revue "Bravo".
Located in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip at the Aladdin Casino and Resort inside the Desert Passage Mall, Sevilla boasts a Martin Professional Total Club Supplier package of Martin effect lighting, Mach audio speakers and Jem smoke machines.
Visual Magic
Chris Lenahan of lighting and sound company Visual Magic was responsible for the Total Club Supplier installation with lighting design from Chris Hall and programming by Carl Holt, both of Visual Magic. “We had to have the system installed by New Year’s Eve,” states Chris Lenahan, “but only got the order in mid-December, so it was tight. We installed the lighting and sound in 40 hours which was good for our reputation but it can give you an ulcer.” Visual Magic was supported by Martin’s Las Vegas branch office.
Double duty
Visual Magic met the deadline and the Martin system works double time. The first floor at Sevilla features seating for the dinner show, where Charo performs. After the dinner show, the seating space is transformed into a nightclub capable of holding 2,000 people. Martin lighting is also featured in two separate lounge areas.
In the main showroom hang four truss structures, three of them moving. A truss over the back of the stage holds 6 MAC 250 profile spots for backlighting and two Martin Atomic 3000 strobes. Three 20-foot moving trusses include a front stage truss with 4 MX-10 scanners and 2 Atomic strobes; a center truss with 6 MAC 250 for front effect and two Atomic strobes; and back truss with 4 MX-10 and a pair of Atomic strobes.
Versatile MX-10
“The MX-10’s are very versatile,” comments Chris Lenahan. “We were some of the first to receive them and they have worked well. The first thing we noticed was the space age design, which we love. With all the Salsa and Latin music we use them for those high-energy moments. They are very fast and the colors and spinning gobos are nice.” Sevilla has partnered with Budweiser/Nevada Beverage to feature some of the best Salsa bands in the world, and a weekly Latin concert series will be announced soon. Chris continues, “We often use the color from the MX-10s for a wash effect. The MX-10s over the stage for example are also used as down wash.” Conventional wash fixtures provide additional color wash.
The Atomic 3000 strobes are used for extra punch with a Jem ZR 33 Hi Mass and Jem StageHazer providing the atmospheric effects and projection canopy haze. Patio and lounge areas also incorporate Martin lighting in the form of MX-4 scanners run from a Martin MC-Showtime, a user-friendly plug-and-play show controller.
Mach sound system “makes your eyes water”
Sevilla also houses a state-of-the-art Mach sound system. “We wanted to build a sound system that would blow everyone away, and that’s what we’ve done,” comments Chris. “And we did it for less money than a lot of other systems out there. Everyone is quite happy.”
The Mach speaker system includes 8 Mach M182T subs located beneath the stage with three Mach M30T top boxes placed on each side of the stage on the truss over the stage. On the center truss are two digitally powered, molded Mach M-Flex 15 used as stage fill and stage monitors. On the back truss are 2 Mach M30T used as near fill.
“The speakers are mounted on the moving truss,” states Chris. “When we aren’t pounding the system for the nightclub, we raise it for the show. The sound system sounds excellent. It rocks! It’s so loud it makes your eyes water. It’s really crisp and clear - piercing without being painful.”
Seven Mach M-Flex 15 are located in the small lounge area – two as subs, four as top boxes and one as a DJ monitor. – while a pair of Mach M-Flex 15 are used as music fill out to the mall area. The Mach speakers are operated via two Mach M20.06 speaker management systems.
