The Joy of Odessa

The leisure vessel Hadjibey, docked at the Black Sea port of Odessa in the Ukraine, may no longer sail the high seas but that doesn’t mean it’s destined for the scrap yard.

Thanks to a splash of entrepreneurial spirit that included a Martin Professional lighting package, Hadjibey has been transformed into one of the harbor’s most distinctive attractions.

Elite in every respect (the ship is a popular vacation spot for state elite, businessmen and diplomats from all over the world), Hadjibey required the best lighting solution possible for its various entertainment elements. Guests can meander from a saloon featuring a stage for live music to a first class restaurant and bar to dancefloors on the first and third decks, not to mention romantic walks along the coast.

Martin regional distributor A&T Trade supplied a complete lighting package for the vessel. Outside, located at the ship’s bow, are mounted four Exterior 200s that bathe the ship in shades of color, changing its look from one moment to the next. Control of the Exteriors is from a Martin LightJockey.

An open dance floor on the third deck is equipped with RoboScan 518 scanners, Punishers and Wizards all controlled via a 2510 controller. Accent lighting throughout the ship is provided by 12 Alien 05 architectural color changers and MiniMAC Profiles.

Hadjibey is not only a major attraction for guests of the sea capital but has become the joy of Odessa’s residents.
