Neil Finn plays to a crowded house at the London Hammersmith Apollo

Following the release of his new solo album, One Nil, in April 2001, former Crowded House front-man, Neil Finn, performed on a sell out British tour during April and May, culminating at the London Hammersmith Apollo.

Lighting designer for the tour was Paul Normandale who utilized the skills of lighting programmer and operator Frazer Elisha once the tour got underway.  Lancashire based Lite Alternative supplied the lighting system for the tour which included 5 MAC 500s and 4 MAC 2000s from Martin Professional. All fixtures were controlled from an Avolites Sapphire 2000 lighting console.

With no pre-defined set list, the show had a very relaxed feel about it, with members of the audience encouraged to request their favorite songs at various times during the show.  The lighting reflected this informal style, creating, as Frazer described, a “lop-sided, abstract effect on stage.”  The 4 MAC 2000s were solely used for gobo effects, projecting a variety of images onto screens located around the stage.

Despite the relaxed show format, the tour ran with a hectic schedule. Frazer summed up the performance of the Martin fixtures saying, “They have performed absolutely fine with no problems at all.”
