MAC 700 Profiles for Carousel Dinner Theatre

The Carousel Dinner Theatre in Akron, Ohio has added 6 MAC 700 Profiles along with 6 MAC 600 NT washlights to their lighting inventory of automated fixtures. The Carousel is a quality regional theatre that features fine dining and top entertainment - each musical is self produced under the direction of an exceptional artistic team.

Production Express, Inc. of York, Pennsylvania supplied the new Martin gear. Matt DeMascolo, Production Express’s lighting programmer and moving light repair tech who is in charge of lighting systems, brokered the deal. Matt also does moving light programming for the Dinner Theatre.

Carousel’s Vice President & Artistic Director, Sean Cercone, talks about the rental. “We wanted to go with a long term rental of moving lights because we felt that since the development of moving light technology moves so fast, that each year we can assess what would be the best fixtures to light the specific productions we have slotted. We are thrilled with the lighting package! It has really kicked up our ability to light our shows several notches.”

Sean also notes, “Our space is not a traditional theatre space. So the use of the Martin fixtures gives us the ability to throw light wherever necessary, especially when we get to ‘West Side Story’ which will be done environmentally. The ability to light a 180’ stage becomes extremely important.

“The other thing the lights have done is give us the ability to impress our audiences with the latest technology and give the designer the ability to use light as a medium, not just to light, but also to paint flowingly through space which is my own personal artistic preference.”
