Paris’ Trocadero Fountain receives splash of Martin color
8 de marzo de 2001
Water is transformed into a magical medium when mixed with a variety of colors from Martin wash lights. Such is the case in Paris where the beautiful views of the Eiffel Tower and Palais de Chaillot have become even more spectacular.
Lighting designer Sacchelli from company Lightec was approached to add a splash of color to one of the city’s famous attractions. Usually preferential to white light, this time the city decided that a bit of color would be appropriate.
Sacchelli was Initially interested in illuminating the famous fountain with weatherproof Martin Exterior 600 fixtures, in part because of its useful beam shaping function. But because the fixtures were to be placed in a dry location beneath the fountain, projecting through rectangular windows, the waterproof function was not needed.
He decided to use 19 MAC 300 wash lights, which were modified to incorporate a beam shaping lens in place of the frost lens. The software used to control the lights is specially made and also drives the fountains’ jets.
Facing the Eiffel tower in the sloping gardens of the Palais de Chaillot, the Rodin decoracted fountain has always been a favorite place to rest during the warm summer days. Now the fountain has become a nighttime attraction as well.
