Martin Professional Middle East (MPME) has added a landmark to the city dubbed the “Paris of the Middle East.” With the collaboration and execution of MPME distributor LightBox, shades of colored light from Martin Architectural Exterior 200 color changers have put the final touches on one of Lebanon’s natural “pieces of art”, the Downtown Garden, a place where one can enjoy a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the city.
Situated between the Mediterranean and the foothills of Mount Lebanon, Beirut sits on a promontory that juts out into the sea, halfway up Lebanon's coast. The newly reconstructed Downtown district around the Grand Serail and Place d'Etoile is the city's financial and retail center. Here, new boutiques, restaurants, cafés, and gift stores are springing up. And because Lebanese are night people, these new retail spaces often stay open into the night, which is why it was important to dress up the green well into the evening hours.
Architect Vladimir Djurovic has bathed the Downtown Garden’s greenery in color from 10 full color mixing Exterior 200 wash lights. The Exterior 200s are positioned in the trees themselves and provide a fantastic multi-colored luminosity to the inner branches and foliage. Around a central reflection pool are numerous fiber optic points uplighting the exterior basin and lining the interior of the pool itself. The fiber optic is powered by Martin FiberSource CMY 150 fiber optic illuminators and is color synchronized with the Exterior 200s.
