Ibis Hotel busy Sao Paulo attraction
1. September 2000
The Ibis Hotel in Sao Paulo, Brazil, opened in June 1999, will never have problems attracting customers.
Located in the world’s third biggest city, the Ibis sits on what is said to be the busiest highway in Latin America. Having recently received a splash of color from Martin intelligent lights, the Ibis is a “can’t miss” landmark. The 13-floor hotel therefore attracts a lot of business, the majority of customers a new breed of Brazilian business folk.
Installed just before Easter 2000, the Ibis features 5 Exterior 600’s and 1 MAC 500 in a dome. There are 2 Exterior 600’s on the front of the hotel and 3 others along with the MAC 500. All lighting was supplied by ProShop of Brazil.
The main idea behind the install is pure attraction. The lights attract passersby, promoting the hotel in a new fashionable way.
The Exteriors slowly change from one attractive color to the next, creating unique scenes as for example the blue, green and white colors of the Brazilian flag honoring the 500 year birthday of the “Discovery of Brazil” by the Portuguese.
Strobe effects and color are used to emphasis the profile of the hotel giving passersby a number of spectacular impressions.
The MAC 500 is used to display gobos such as the logo of the Ibis chain, promotional pricing specials and so forth.
