Martin WDMX System for Pair of Middle East Installs

As one of the fastest developing and most progressive cities in the Gulf area, Dubai boasts an abundance of unique architectural buildings. The Fairmont Hotel, which already boasts a dynamic façade illumination from 160 Exterior 600 color changers, has recently installed 6 MAC 550 profile spots inside the hotel’s atrium.

The MAC 550s are used to project decorative gobo designs and lighting effects in the atrium area. But because the 550 luminaires are spaced relatively far apart, at distances too great and impractical for DMX cable, Martin Professional Middle East proposed a wireless solution using the Martin Wireless DMX 512 device. One WDMX transmitter communicates with six WDMX receivers, one for each luminaire. Control is from a Martin PC-based LightJockey.

The second project in which Martin Middle East proposed a WDMX solution was in a ballroom at the Kempinski Hotel in Abu Dhabi. Here, four Martin Wireless DMX 512 devices provide an uncluttered cable-less solution for 23 MAC 500 profile spots and 22 MAC 600 wash lights.

The Martin Wireless DMX-512 system is the easiest way to connect remote fixtures to a DMX system within line of sight. It offers a fast and easy way of connecting and setting up a lighting system, especially a system with remote fixtures or hard to get at fixtures, as no cables and expensive downtime is required.
