Omnisport Palace and Martin team up in a variety of events

Since its opening in the early eighties the Paris Omnisport Palace (POPB: Palais Omnisport de Paris Bercy) has been the scene of a wide variety of events ranging from ice skating and ice dancing to Supercross and Kart racing – even windsurfing and snowboarding events have taken place under its roof.

Three recent events included the 16th Indoor Motorcross race, the 6th ELF Indoor Master Kart race and the spectacular Lalique Trophy ice skating competition.

French Lighting Designer Christian Brean complemented the POPB’s permanent lighting system with 48 Martin MAC 500s and 16 Martin MAC 600s.

The Lalique Trophy ice skating competition was an especially beautiful event, made all the more colorful and elegant by the creative use of the MAC 500 gobo effects and colorwash from the MAC 600 CMY color mixing system.

MAC 500s were hung around the ice rink specifically to cover every camera angle. The remaining MAC 500s were used to illuminate the stylish cloth crystal and the 16 MAC 600s were used above the four entrances to the rink.

For the Supercross race he positioned the MACs from four 6 meter truss circles, each circle equipped with 16 MAC 500s and 4 MAC 600s.

For the ELF Master Kart race, 32 MAC 500s were hung from an 18 meter truss circle in the middle of the venue.

Eight MAC 600s were positioned over the entrances of the circuit and 16 MAC 500s plus 6 MAC 600s were installed on two skiffs that were lowered from the ceiling for the drivers’ presentation.
