World EXPO 2005, Aichi, Japan

Held by several countries since first opening in London in 1851, the World Exposition is a worldwide showcase for culture, tradition and history.

World EXPO 2005 in Aichi, Japan opened on a grand scale on March 25th as the first World Exposition of the 21st Century. Championing an eco-friendly theme through September 25th, EXPO 2005 is this summer’s center of attraction in Japan with some 15 million visitors expected. Most of the world’s countries, as well as several public institutions, citizen groups and volunteers participate in the event.

Martin gear is well-represented throughout the EXPO site. Spread across country and corporate pavilions, as well as other zones, are MAC 550 profiles, MAC 2000 Series fixtures, MAC 600 wash lights, MAC 250 profiles, Mania DC1 and DC2 effect lights, color changing fluorescent Cyclo fixtures, Alien Series color changers, MX-10 scanners, CX-10 color changers and MiniMAC Maestro’s.

Nature’s Wisdom
World EXPO’s have excited and inspired millions of people around the world by expressing the hopes and desires of their times. Thanks to the evolution of technology, today our standard of living is at a very high level, yet at the same time is the need to face various environmental issues together. World EXPO 2005 has therefore chosen the theme “Nature’s Wisdom” as its main message.

Environmental issues pervade all pavilions, which are located in two areas: the main “Nagakute” area and the “Seto” area. Both Japanese and well-known foreign lighting designers and promoters have worked hard in creating the various pavilions and wonderfully designed shows. Martin lighting makes up an integral part of those environments and can be found in the following areas:
