Full Monty at Eugene O’Neill Theatre on Broadway

The Broadway musical version of the popular film Full Monty opened in October 2000 at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre on Broadway in New York City. It has experienced as much success as the film version, having played to packed houses since its opening.

Lighting Designer is Howell Binkley who has incorporated 10 MAC 500s into the show, the same number he used in the shows original US opening in San Diego earlier in 2000. The MACs have again shown their versatility as theater lights. Howell uses them for area lighting, as breakup pattern projection and for sculpting the scenic background and giving the scenery dimension. In one of the play’s more unique numbers entitled "MJ’s Ball" Binkley uses the MAC 500s as downlight to isolate each actor as they dance. Lighting was supplied by Fourth Phase N.J.

Diverting from the film’s storyline just a bit, the story of a group of unemployed workers who resort to stripping in order to earn money is set in Buffalo, New York instead of England. Geography aside, it contains all the appeal of the popular film.
