Martin Exteriors Lighting Melbourne’s Southbank Interchange
décembre 21, 2001
The Southbank Interchange is a complex interchange that handles traffic travelling between Melbourne´s Westgate Freeway and the two City Link tunnels.
A sculpture, designed to advertise the entrance to one of the tunnels, is situated on one of the Southbank Interchange traffic islands. Lighting designers Barry Webb & Associates, and their client TransUrban, decided to bring the sculpture to life at night by bathing it in color changing light. Lightmoves, suppliers of lighting systems and solutions, were contracted to design and install suitable out of doors lighting equipment.
Lightmoves choose Exterior 600
After an extensive investigation into suitable light fixtures, Lightmoves chose three Martin Exterior 600 fixtures. The Exterior fixtures were supplied through Show Technology, Martin’s Australian distributor.
"We needed a light that was punchy and that could produce a narrow beam," said Haydn Brennan, Lightmove´s project manager. "The Martin Exterior was definitely the most suitable. It´s reliable and robust. We´re using the longer life HSD575 lamp that runs at 7,200°K for 3000 hours."
The Martin fixtures are situated on the traffic island in vandal-proof enclosures. The color remains static with a simple color chase activated every fifteen minutes.
