We believe that we have solved the problem that occurs in some LightJockey applications using Windows98 and a parallel port adaptor (ADP) where the ADP fails to send the default DMX start byte. This bug prevents all fixtures that read the start byte (some do not) from responding to the DMX signal. The bug only affects ADP interfaces with firmware revision 1.12.

The fix consists of an executable program file that has to be run via the autoexec.bat file before Windows 98 loads.

Two installation options are available. The first, ADPFix.Zip, contains an install program that will copy the executable to the root directory and add a line to the autoexec.bat file for you. Simply unzip the file and run the setup program.

The second, ADPFixMan.Zip, contains the executable file and a text file. To use it, unzip the download file to the root directory (typically C:\) and add the line "C:\AdpFix98.exe", without the quotes, to the autoexec.bat file.
