Escape to Elsinore

Located on the northern end of the Danish island of Zealand, little more than a stone’s throw from Sweden, lies the city of Elsinore of Hamlet fame. As one of the country’s top tourist destinations, Elsinore sees its share of tourists. Now, Elsinorians have an escape, literally.

Escape is one of Denmark’s newest and certainly one of the biggest clubs in Scandinavia. Spread across two floors with a capacity of 2000, Escape boasts three separate dance areas all clad in a Martin Total Club lighting, sound and smoke package.  

Central to Escape is a large dance floor, with smaller dance floors playing ‘80s music and modern hip hop and dance beats. High above the main dance floor hangs a star shaped truss with 10 Martin Wizard effect lights, 16 MAC 250 profile spots and 4 MAC 300 wash units. A Wizard tops each of four prominent pillars, which also serve as projection surfaces, creating a full house environment of beam and color. A pair of Jem TechnoHaze provide the mid air projection canopy.

Lighting for the smaller ‘80s dance floor consists of 4 Martin MX-1 scanners while the hip hop area basks in the light of 4 Martin CX-2 color changers. Control on the large dance floor is from a Martin PC-based LightJockey with Martin 2510 playback controllers taking care of the smaller dance areas. Lighting design was completed by Frank Ovesen.

Serving as stage monitors in the main DJ booth is a pair of Mach M72i two-way near field speakers while a mix of Mach Installation Series speakers are incorporated into all three dance floors: M156I two-way medium throw top boxes, M82i two-way near field top boxes, M182i 18” subs, and M154R with Mach 6” M62i and 8” M68i near field speakers used for in-fill purposes.
