First ever SlingShot installation

November 26, 1998

In August "Technique Systems" made the first ever Mach SlingShot installation in three clubs at Edinburgh University during the International Club Festival in which the exisiting student union on Teviot Row was converted into a club for the duration of the festival.

The Festival offered 5 clubs on 5 levels for 5 pounds and proved to be a very popular concept. Many of England and Scotland´s top clubs such as Ministry of Sound and Cream were present to provide the party atmosphere. Music was spun courtesy of some of the world´s top DJ´s.

The 120 top clubs and DJs who were present over the three week period in August made the Edinburgh International Club Festival one of the biggest celebrations of club culture ever in the UK.

Project manager Owen Quinn, is presented a diploma complete with graduation hat at the PLASA convention by Hans V. Madsen, Mach´s Managing Director (L), together with Tony Kennedy from Teknique Systems (R).

It was the first SlingShot installation in the world and was commemorated at the recent PLASA exhibition by presenting the project manager, Owen Quinn, a diploma complete with graduation hat in the grandest educational tradition.

The Mach installation features 14 MS 1262 mid/high boxes and 28 MS 118i subwoofers. After three weeks of constant use, the Students Association was so impressed with the system that they decided to install it permanently into their new entertainment venue.

Installed by Scottish lighting and sound company Technique Systems, the SlingShot system has proved to be a huge success. Owen Quinn, also the Student Association Project Manager, is highly impressed with the performance and resiliance of the system. He comments, "During the 23 days of the club festival the system ran from 8pm to 6am every night and worked faultlessly."
