France’s LC Club an Illuminating Experience
January 21, 2008
The largest nightclub in the west of France has opened on the site of a regenerated banana warehouse on the historic Ile de Nantes. Set in Le Hangar à Bananes, entrepreneur Philippe Clement’s new 2 million Euro investment has provided him with the 3,000-capacity LC Club.
The venue dominates the wharf known as the Quai des Antilles, which is uniquely lined with 18 neon-edged hoops, designed by celebrated French artist Daniel Buren that light up the isle in spectacular fashion after dark.
Inside, the lumière experience is no less impressive.
The club houses a large main room with overlooking balcony, seven strategically placed bars, a 200-capacity VIP club, mezzanine lounges, restaurant/brasserie, and a terrace that offers spectacular views over the Loire.
Spread throughout the spacious venue is a PC-based Martin LightJockey lighting control system that runs a range of Martin luminaires, including eight MAC 250 moving heads, 10 MAC 250 Krypton profile spots, 14 MX-10 Extreme scanners and four Atomic 3000 strobes - all brought to life by a Jem Hydra fog system and a Jem ZR12 DMX smoke machine. All Martin gear was installed by company ALS.
With abundant elbow room, a chic interior and cutting edge lighting and sound system, LC Club can compete with the best that London, New York and Ibiza have to offer. Following the dance system’s debut in July of 2007 at the hands of legendary New York producer and DJ Erick Morillo, LC Club has become a key stop for a number of national and internationally renowned DJs.
