Jet at the Mirage, Las Vegas
May 02, 2006
Ever since the closure of the popular Siegfried & Roy show in 2003, the Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas has sought to regain its position as one of the city’s top nightlife destinations. Newly opened Jet Nightclub is helping it do just that.
Design/build firm John Lyons Systems recently completed a custom lighting and sound installation at Jet with a Martin lighting and Jem/Martin fog package as a key component. The systems were conceived and installed by John Lyons, president of John Lyons Systems, owner of the prestigious Avalon clubs. Jet is owned and operated by the Light Group, operators of several top end clubs in Vegas.
Jet celebrated its official grand opening on January 14, 2006. Within a 15,000 square foot space, Jet features state-of-the-art entertainment technology in each of three distinct rooms, each with its own musical style and decor.
John Lyons handled the club’s lighting design and was given complete creative license to craft a visual space unlike any other on the Strip. Richard Worboys, head lighting designer for all Avalon clubs, collaborated with Lyons on the lighting design.
LED panels installed over the main dance floor work in conjunction with a Martin rig of 24 MAC 250 Krypton profile spots, 12 Atomic 3000 strobes and 4 MAC 550 profile spots. Smoke effects are from 2 Jem ZR33 Hi-Mass foggers and 2 Martin Magnum Pro 2000 smoke machines with a pair of Jem AF-1 Fans used to disperse the effect. Digital lighting effects round out the visually stunning show.
