Lights! Camera! Action! Martin and Arnold team up in Sixth Day
September 04, 2000
The Martin RoboColor Pro 400 for Fiber Optic has been contributing to the action in the upcoming Arnold Schwarzenegger movie The Sixth Day. Three 160 foot diameter helicopter pads were illuminated with fiber optics each powered by 8 RoboColor Pro 400 fixtures.
One of the helicopter scenes took place on the rooftop of the Vancouver Post Office in Canada, the other at a naval base in Stanley Park, while a mock pad was made at the Lions Gate Studio. The lights burned 12 hours a day, 6 days a week, for 6 weeks.
Paul Conningham from Cold light Inc. was the installer and designer of the project. Conningham, a Chief Lighting Technician in the motion picture industry, enthusiastically stated that the “RoboColors worked magnificently...bringing the film precisely the effect it needed.”
The Sixth Day, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Martin RoboColor 400 Fiber, hits cinemas November 22nd. Lighting supplier for the project was Martin Canada.
