MAC 250 Wash Exceeds Expectations on “Acquire the Fire”

September 13, 2005

“Acquire The Fire” is a youth convention featuring musical acts, speakers and live drama. The show traveled around the U.S. hitting venues like the Tacoma Dome in Seattle, St. Pete’s Times Forum in Tampa, and Worten Arena in Muncie, Indiana.

Lighting designer for the event was Shawn Worlow who used the new Martin MAC 250 Wash on the event – with supply from Bandit Lites. He had this to say about the new washlight.

“I had four of the MAC 250 Wash units on a down stage truss for audience wash and some key light fill. The things I found useful were the speed of the fixture’s head and the light output. The fixture seemed to have a much better output than the MAC 300. I also like the fact that the fixture maintained its intensity even with a deep saturated color in it. I was using the light at a 40’ trim height and was getting great punch out of it, even with the high trim.

“I had no problems with the performance - it exceeded my expectations on every level from color mixing to light output. The pan and tilt speed is incredibly fast which has been useful for some of the effects I am running. I am also very pleased with the shutter speed of the strobe and the random strobe function is very useful. They are keeping up well with the 600’s in my rig even in deeply saturated colors.”

Other Martin gear in the rig included 8 MAC 2000 Profiles, 4 MAC 2000 Wash, 18 MAC 600 washlights, 4 Atomic strobes, with digital effects from a Maxedia and control from a Maxxyz console.
