MAC 550’s a “Rush” at Tribute Performance
May 03, 2005
At special events venue Fonda Concert in Monterrey, Mexico an exceptional display of music was demonstrated by a band playing tribute to the legendary Canadian band, Rush.
Lighting designer and programmer Luis E. (Foker) Perez used MAC 550s on the show, all under Maxxyz control. “I used eight MAC 550s for the show,” Luis explains. “I rigged 6 upstage behind the drums, and two more on the floor as sidefill. I liked them from the very first moment I saw them in their nice customized case. I liked the intensity of the beam - almost like a MAC 2000 - and the red, oh! The red, it’s a color that you can really see! The gobos are great, the angle of the iris, the effects, everything. But one of the features I liked most was the wide angle of the beam at a short distance - awesome!
“I enjoyed the show and the programming with the Maxxyz controller,” Luis says enthusiastically. “It’s so easy to program and the process is fast and beautiful. I think it is the best console ever!”
The Martin gear was supplied by Audio Systems, which Luis describes as “the best lighting company in the north of
