Martin LC Series™ ‘Magical’ on Slovakia’s “Superstar”

February 18, 2008

Slovensko h¾;adá Superstar, "Slovakia’s Searching for a Superstar" to you and me, is a casting television show based on the popular British show “Pop Idol.” Broadcast twice a week from October to December by TV station Markíza, this wildly popular series to find the best young singer in the land was the highest rated TV show ever in Slovakia.

Needless to say, Producers wanted to create something special. Adam Pastorek, president of Martin distributor ADAM A SYN s.r.o., together with director Peter Nunez, set designer Marek Holly and chief cameraman Vlado Valko, decided on a modern set design featuring the big-time visual impact of Martin LC Series™ LED video screens.

LC LED
Dominating the set design upstage center was a large LED video wall consisting of 28 LC 2140 panels vertically divided so they could open for competitors to enter the stage. It was the LC Series’ versatility and light weight that allowed for this unique entrance “gate” to be realized. Stage right and left were more LC Series panels assembled as large cylindrical displays. The colossal impression of the stage was underlined by video projection and 25 plasma screens.

Maxedia possibilities
Video design for the show was by Martin Bartko, Alan Pastorek and Eva Pastorkova of ADAM A SYN who used three Martin Maxedia PRO media servers, which proved ideal for displaying real-time stage action, film, digital images and graphics. Production personnel, including Vlado Valko, praised the possibilities inherent in the Maxedia including the amount of available “footage” which was “adjusted and presented by our team for each theme - rock, disco, ballads...” Control was by a Martin Maxxyz lighting desk.

Magical wall
The LC Series LED video wall was even recognized by Slovakia’s best-selling daily, Nový è;as, who described it as a “magical wall” and every song performed in front of it as a new music video. The exceptional atmosphere was accentuated by a rig of Martin MAC moving heads: 80 MAC 2000 Profiles, 56 MAC 600 wash lights, 20 MAC 250 Kryptons and 34 MAC 250 Entours as well as other fixtures all provided by supply company Amex with lighting design by Majo Velikanic.
