Martin Makes New Peugeot 207 Shine Bright

April 18, 2006

From early January through March 2006, Peugeot welcomed 10,000 guests to the Centro de Congresso in Seville, Spain to view the unveiling of their new automotive jewel, the Peugeot 207.

Lighting Designer Jon Aasen of Desk Black Out sprl of Brussels specified a nearly complete Martin rig for the show. Having virtually designed the show at home, Jon had an opportunity to pick and choose the fixtures he wanted to use. The choice was not easy however as supplier ETF-Procon of Belgium boasts a large inventory of automated luminaries, yet the final choice according to Jon was easy.

“The design software allowed me to swap fixtures around and frankly, from reliability, workability and a cost point of view, Martin came out on top” says Jon.

In the 207 Atrium as the main hall was renamed were 24 MAC 500 and 18 MAC 550 profile spots, 18 MAC 2000 Profiles, 8 MAC 2000 Washes and 3 MAC 2000 Performances. Alongside the 207 Atrium was an expo show, 207 Avenue. Jon explains, “It’s like a mini car show where all the different models are exposed. And because no one could decide on the number of cars and their position, I decided to go with MACs there too.” The 207 Avenue spec included 30 MAC 600 washlights and 10 MAC 2000 Profiles.

The three month long product presentation for Peugeot was quite the undertaking, having encompassed 36 shows and 36 rehearsals. “We went through 90 days but everyone was up to the task, both men and machine,” Jon concludes.
