Martin Package for Poland’s Sport Champions Ball

Martin Package for Poland’s Sport Champions Ball

April 23, 2007

Full service lighting and design company GRODA Design Production Light of Poland used a large Martin lighting package that included MAC TW1 Tungsten washlights for a grand ball and dinner that followed the 72nd Sport Champions Gala.

The Sport Champions Gala is an annual event that recognizes Poland’s top sportsperson. Chosen by the readers of Przegl¹d Sportowy, the 2006 Sportsperson of the Year accolade went to world and Olympic champion swimmer Otylia Jêdrzejczak.

GRODA’s duties involved lighting the five halls where the ball was held. “Our new purchase of the MAC TW1 was used to fill the interior of the rooms with colored light - the light was reflected from the ceiling - and to illuminate the set design,” commented GRODA’s Malgorzata Ostrowska. “We used the TW1’s due to their beautiful colors - red, deep magenta, orange, green. What was also great about them was their silent work. After all, the guests were supposed to have a good time eating and chatting, so it was advisable that they could hear each other.”

Lighting designer for the event was Piotr Majewski who also had MAC 2000 Profiles, MAC 250+’s, MAC 300 washlights, CX-2 color changers, Mania DC1 effects and conventional luminaires at his disposal. Working in close cooperation with the set design crew, GRODA chose special gobos for Leko and ETC reflectors which were used to project decorative patterns onto curtains hung on adjacent walls. All of the Martin gear was supplied by GRODA who acquired it from Martin’s Polish distributor LTT Sp. Zo.o
