Martin promotional lighting in Bogota, Colombia

August 23, 2000

Earlier this year, Bogota-based Sphera Producciones used 2 Martin MAC 600’s and a MAC 500 to lay a unique projection onto 10 twenty-meter tall trees outside of Bogota, Colombia.

The MAC luminaires projected the Lucky Strike Cigarette brand logo onto the trees. The effect was striking and impossible to miss from the expressway that runs on the outskirts of Bogota. The “show” took place three Saturdays a month.

Lucky Strike could be found on the Centro de Diseño Portobello building in downtown Bogota as well. Four MAC 600’s and 1 MAC 500 were used to project color wash and logos, including the Lucky Strike logo, onto the building 2-3 times a month based on the client’s request.

Sphera also incorporated the Eureka 3D software into a promotion for Lucky Strike at a Videodrome. An intense barrage of music, lighting, sound, and video was used, the lighting rig consisting strictly of Martin gear – 6 MAC 500´s and 6 MAC 600´s run from a LightJockey control system.

For high resolution video 15 LCD projectors were used to project the mesmerizing effects of Eureka onto the fifteen 200" diagonal screens. DJ´s and other musical groups were flown in to perform to a capacity crowd of 2,500 spectators. During the next few months Eureka will travel on tour to 6 different countries in South America. Lighting for all events was supplied by Sphera Producciones.

And in Cartagena, Colombia Sphera Producciones used 4 MAC 600’s and 4 MAC 500’s for the spectacular illumination of Hotel Santa Clara. The event took place for a Millenium celebration sponsored by Chivas Regal.
