Martin provides upbeat lightshow for Classical Spectacular

January 15, 2001

Martin moving heads have recently illuminated Classical Spectacular, the highly acclaimed musical production from the UK’s leading classical promoter, Raymond Gubbay.

With over 33 years in the business, Raymond Gubbay produces more than 600 shows a year. Illuminating the production are 16 MAC 2000s, Martin’s most powerful automated moving head, along with 16 MAC 500s, 72 MAC 600s, 12 Pro 400 color changers and 22 conventional lights, all supplied by Stage Electrics of Bristol.

Classical Spectacular concert-goers are treated to a sensational explosion of eighteen classics from the world’s leading composers including Orff’s Carmina Burana, Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus and Tchaikovsky¹s 1812 Overture complete with cannons, muskets and an indoor firework finale.

The lighting designer for Classical Spectacular was Durham Marenghi. Durham used Stage Electrics’ state-of-the-art Virtual Lighting Studio in London to visualize and pre-program the show. Working with lighting operator, John Sinden, eighteen pieces of music were programmed in just five days.
