One of the largest rental companies in Sweden, Spectra Stage and Event Technologies, recently used a Martin Wireless DMX system on a special opening celebration of a road tunnel, Södra Länken, in Stockholm.

Spectra used four Wireless DMX 512 Pro Diversity units inside the tunnel. On each side of the tunnel Spectra placed 5 MAC 2000 Profiles and 5 MAC 600 washlights working together with a media server. One side was connected to a lighting console directly and the other side over the Wireless DMX.

“We had no problems at all,” stated Spectra’s Abbe Westerlundh. “Thanks to the dual set-up we had the possibility to see if there were any delays or any other problems. In the tunnel there were other radio systems active, GSM 900/1800, National UHF rescue net, and one other undefined net. The distance was 15m and we used four Wireless Pro Diversity models, two for each link.”

A second case involved connecting a lighting console to a stage with a 24ch dimmer and 14 moving lights. “The distance this time was 125m and the radio interference was a lot more complex,” Abbe commented. “We had GSM 900/1800, 3G, W-lan for sound control, GSMlink for sound, Sattelitelink for video and a high voltage mains line 250m from the stage.

“I must say that I’m impressed with the Martin WDMX. It was really solid in performance and easy and straightforward to use.”
