MercyMe Rocks the House (of Worship) with Martin’s New LC Series™ Panels and Ever Popular Stagebar 54™

December 10, 2007

Contemporary rock group, MercyMe, has emerged as one of the leading bands within the Christian-themed mainstream music genre today. Best known for their powerful and moving worship jams such as “I Can Only Imagine,” “Coming Up to Breathe” and “Word of God Speak,” the group has wowed fans not only with their awe-inspiring tunes, but with a high level of stage production when in concert.

Inspirational LED
The band’s on stage effects are made possible by Martin’s popular LED products, Stagebar 54, and the newly introduced LC Series, both of which add a spectacular result and are used (in the case of the LC Panel) to magnificently make clear the various inspirational messages presented to the crowd throughout shows.

The choice to use Martin LED products was simple as the Stagebar 54, preferred by a growing number of production teams for its compact and dynamic color range and its ability to be used as a pixel bar, is capable of displaying video and imagery or can simply be used as a wash luminaire. Martin’s new LC Panels also won in the decision making process without much debate.

“I was blown away by the size and quality of the light,” says Steve Nance of Integrity Lighting & Sound (Tulsa), who has been working with the band since 2004. “So I called the guys at MercyMe and they too were impressed. They were so inspired that they chose to use 12.”

“I was very impressed with the resolution,” says Ryan Slaughter, resident video programmer and MercyMe staff member. “It looked great considering its 40mm pitch.”

LC Series
Martin’s newest addition to the LED family, the LC Series is a perfect example of cutting edge technology at its best. Designed specifically for stage shows, television and commercial applications, the LC Series seamlessly integrates light, video and set design in a semi-transparent, modular system of LED panels. The production team was also surprised at the Panel’s compact composition.

“The tour was very limited on truck space. The Martin LC 2140 LED wall didn't take up much space at all”, continues Slaughter. “It's amazing how much LED’s fit into one case”.

Slaughter is working closely with Lighting Designer Steve Nance to ensure a full worship/concert experience as MercyMe prepares for its newest album release titled “All That Is Within Me” on November 20, 2007.

“The LC 2140 was a perfect fit for this tour. It's a great product,” says Slaughter. Lighting operation on the tour was by Scott Cunningham.

Aside from the 12 LC 2140 and the 32 Stagebar 54’s, additional Martin gear used on this project include: 1 Maxedia Pro, 12 MAC 250 Entour and 8 MAC 250 Wash.
