Nautilios Submerged in Martin Gear
August 14, 2003
Located in the popular Mexican tourist destination of Manzanillo on the Pacific coast, Nautilios is a high profile, 1000 capacity club loaded with Martin, Mach and Jem gear.
Wanting something special to fit the club’s underwater theme, club owner Armando Magana approached installer Alberto “Chiquilin” Guerra from lighting supply company Sistemas de Audio Profesional (SAP) of Guadalajara.
Total Club install
Alberto, who is well known in the region for several other high profile clubs, created a lighting design based around a Martin Total Club Supplier package. Although he has worked with Martin products in the past, and specifies Martin gear in all his projects, this was his first Total Club Supplier installation.
Underwater atmosphere
The club’s interior decoration is quite unique, and fits in well with the city’s watery surroundings. The theme is based on a submerged submarine with lighting mounted on a moving, sun-shaped truss, which, with a little imagination, appears as though you are viewing it from underwater. The truss structure moves up and down all night to give a variety of looks.
On that truss hangs the Martin lighting gear including 26 MX-4 scanners, 6 full-house-effect Wizards, 4 Atomic 3000 strobes and 8 MAC 250 profile spots. A pair of Magnum Pro 2000 smoke machines provides the mid-air projection canopy. Jorge Rico completed the programming on a PC-based LightJockey controller.
On the audio side, the Mach system is made up of 6 Mach M156i medium-throw installation top-boxes working with 6 Mach M182i subs and 2 Mach M72i near field speakers.
Owner Armando Magana has expressed his satisfaction with the results and his pride in being the newest Martin Total Supplier club in Mexico. The project was supported by Martin’s exclusive distributor in Mexico Distribuidora Wagner Internacional and Martin´s Area Sales Manager for Mexico, Juan Alegria.
