Nobel Peace Prize Concert 2004

April 27, 2005

The Nobel Peace Prize Concert is the climax of a series of celebratory events that center around the presentation of one of the world’s most esteemed awards, the Nobel Peace Prize. Martin Professional dealer AVAB CAC of Oslo is proud to have been, yet again, the supplier of lighting and sound systems to the annual Nobel Peace Prize Concert held at the Oslo Spektrum in Norway in December.

The prestigious event has become a worldwide TV event, attracting top international stars. Hosted by Tom Cruise and Oprah Winfrey, this year’s performers included Diana Krall, Patti La Belle, Cyndi Lauper, Andrea Bocelli, Tony Bennett, Sondre Lerche and more.

The concert, held to honor Kenyan environmental activist Wangari Maathai, took place across a 65-meter-wide, three-part stage construction built especially for the concert. Lighting designer was again Al Gurdon who used roughly 100 Martin MAC 2000 Profile/Wash/Performance, along with 100 MAC 500 profile spots and MAC 600 wash lights in his lighting design.

The luminaires provided color and graphic effects for performers on both the right and left hand stages, as well as the Norwegian Radio Orchestra located on the center stage. All Martin lighting was supplied by AVAB through Martin Professional Scandinavia. Other AVAB-supplied lighting included additional automated lights, Thomas Pixellines, 8-lites, 4-celler horizontal floods, PAR lamps, Juliat profiles and Juliat Aramis 2500 HMI followspots.

The concert, which reportedly was a big success, has steadily grown in popularity over the years with this year’s concert broadcast to over 50 countries worldwide.
