Palms Casino an Oasis in the Desert
October 08, 2002
Few places on earth offer such a lucrative combination of entertainment and growth on such a grand scale as Las Vegas. Martin’s Las Vegas office serves some of the top rental companies in the region such as Fourth Phase, Four Wall, Light America, DAV and others. To date, these companies have delivered over 2,500 Martin fixtures that now grace some of the city’s most popular casino resorts, shows, nightclubs, theaters, and other venues.
Witness Vegas’ Palms Casino Resort, a sophisticated $265 million, 42-story resort that opened just off the Strip in November of last year, an eclectic mix of top end entertainment venues under one roof.
Three of those venues - Rain in the Desert, Ghost Bar and Skin Pool Lounge, – all operated by The Nine Group, boast exceptional designs, including Martin intelligent lighting systems that have helped make them some of the most popular destinations in Vegas.
Rain in the Desert
Rain in the Desert is an elegant club and concert venue located on the casino level of the Palms. Its visual charms and special effects from a host of Martin fixtures help create a stylish atmosphere without being pretentious.
As you enter the club through a bright, futuristic tunnel, the club´s visual elements hit you immediately – namely intelligent lighting effects from MAC 500s, MAC 250s and Wizards. The state-of-the-art lighting system also includes MiniMACs mounted on a circular truss that wash the room in color and motion.
Rain features all the bells and whistles you would expect from a top class Vegas club, and then some, including an electrifying play of water, fire and fog from a Jem Club Smoke system. Rain’s 25,000 square feet also boasts multiple levels, luxurious private areas, waterfalls and various other environments. International headliner acts such as Santana and Counting Crows have added Rain as a stop on their tours as well.
Skin Pool Lounge
Skin, the Palms´ sensual poolside lounge, is the place to be if you’re yearning for a little relaxation. Complete with lavender-shaded swimming pool surrounded by private cabanas and hammocks, water lounges with chaises resting in colorful pools, areas of sand and grass, two bars, outdoor blackjack and poolside massages, visitors are ready to let it rip once the sun sets. But that’s the beauty of Skin. You don’t have to go anywhere. Skin transforms into an outdoor nightclub with a concert stage, elevated dance floor and breathtaking light and fog effects from MAC 250s, Martin Acrobats and Raptors and Jem foggers.
Ghost Bar
Located on the 55th floor of the Palms, high above the Vegas Strip, Ghost Bar is an open-air realm with unparalleled views unto itself. This ultra-hip, upscale lounge boasts 12 ft. glass walls and even a glass floor on the open-air sky deck. True to its name, the bar is lit in a warm glow with MiniMAC projection used as architectural lighting. The highly stylized design and ethereal color scheme make it feel as if it´s floating over Vegas, a world apart from the chaos below.
