Raising the Bar in Fort Lauderdale

September 16, 2002

Located in the heart of Fort Lauderdale’s Riverfront district, Zu Bar is a new South Florida club that has raised nightclub standards in the area with the help of a Martin Total Club Supplier package.

Located on the 2nd floor of the Las Olas Riverfront, this multi-entertainment complex offers a little something for everyone - industrial style nightclub, private hip hop room, and unique South Florida style patio bar.

Combination of uniqueness and quality
Operating in the busy South Florida nightclub scene, Zu Bar owners realized the necessity to offer something unique. They also wanted the best equipment around and ultimately decided on a Martin, Mach and Jem system. Florida Lighting and Design, Inc. supplied the equipment, and were also responsible for the installation, with support from David Chesal, Jerry Seay, Corey Silverman, and David Sullivan of Martin Professional.

The combination of uniqueness and quality that defines Zu Bar starts with a Mach speaker system. In the main dance area the sound system includes, among others, 6 Mach M182i Subs, 8 Mach M129i Mid/High, and a Mach M20.06 Processor while in the DJ Booth two of Mach’s new lightweight M-Flex 12 molded speakers are used as monitors. Digitally powered with built in DSP, the M-Flex 12 is the lightest and most compact molded 12” speaker on the market.

Entertainment and architectural lighting elements
The lighting system combines both entertainment and architectural lighting elements. The main lighting system features 6 MAC 250s, 4 MAC 300s, 8 MX-4 scanners, 4 Wizards, 4 Atomic 3000 strobes and 2 CX-4 color changers. Four Alien 05 indoor architectural color changers have also been incorporated into the lighting design with a Martin CMY 150 FiberSource powering 160 feet of stranded side light fiber optic in the lobby. A 4-head Jem Club Smoke System provides the haze environment.

Mach and Martin equipment also grace Zu Bar’s other areas. In the hip-hop room the sound system includes 2 Mach M151i Subs, 4 Mach M82i Mid/High and a M20.02 Processor. The lighting system features 4 Martin MiniMAC Profiles in titanium.

The outdoor patio audio features a pair of Mach Architectural Series M125i (white) 3-way near field installation speakers. A Martin CMY 150 FiberSource supplies light to 2 eight-foot water columns supplied by Fiero-Tristar and up-lit with fiber optic supplied by Advanced Lighting Systems.  A Martin CX-4 color changer is used to illuminate the front entrance sign.  A Martin LightJockey controls the full lighting system.
