Scandinavian Music Convention 2006

The 3rd edition of the Scandinavian Music Convention (SMC) took place from February 22-23 at the prestigious Berns venue in Stockholm. SMC is a gathering for Scandinavian DJ’s and the dance music industry in general.

Martin Scandinavia was involved for the second straight year with a list of gear that reads like a who’s who of Martin product: MAC 700, MAC 550, MAC 250 Wash, MAC 250 Entour, MAC 250+, MAC 300, Wizard Extreme, Atomic 3000, Exterior 200, Maxxyz, Maxedia, Wireless DMX-512, Jem Glaciator, Magnum Hazer, Jem ZR 24/7 Hazer and Jem AF-2 fan. Martin Scandinavia supplied the abundance of gear together with PS Lightdesign, DaFreak, Showlighters and Axlight from Martin’s Preferred Partner network in Sweden.

During the day the convention hosts a number of activities including an expo, panels, debates and interviews with experts in each field showing the latest trends and technologies. Martin was a key participant and showcased the SCX and EFX Mania series. Nighttime was devoted to performances by the world’s and Sweden’s top DJ’s. This year’s line-up included Paul van Dyk, Lisa Loud, Stonebridge and Little Louie Vega with live PA by Lisa Millet and Karime Kendra.

Lighting designer Patrik Svensson from PS Lightdesign made full use of the large rig at hand. He commented, “The wide range of Martin product we used was perfect as we rigged it at different heights. Every fixture had its ideal part of the show. The small 250 Washes and Entours were used as stage backlight and mid height effect light. The MAC 550 and MAC 700 were rigged on balconies where high output was needed. The Wizards and Atomics were perfect for this kind of club event. Maxxyz showed itself outstanding as we had long show nights and limited time to pre-program.”
