Señor Frogs in Panama - lights, camera, party...

April 06, 2000

Señor Frogs Panama is part of a chain of 12 franchises founded by Carlos Anderson in Mexico in the 1960’s at the beginning of the Mexican tourist boom. The franchise is present across Mexico and the group has expanded to Venezuela, Aruba, Peru, Panama, UK and Spain. Another member of the franchise, Carlos & Charlie’s, has recently opened in Panama as well.

The Martin lighting rig includes 4 MAC 300’, 4 MAC 250s and 4 Pro 918s all run from a Light Jockey Club version controller. It is the first intelligent lighting rig ever installed at a Señor Frogs. Traditionally they have used par cans and simple dimmers.

The group has traditionally opened franchises in tourist areas, where local people have joined them with local investments. After securing a franchise with an outlay of half a million dollars, Señor Frogs’ personnel will arrive with manpower to train the local people and teach them how to run shows, get people involved – in short, demonstrate how to run a winning establishment.

According to Greg Pappas, head of International Entertainment , "Today, Señor Frogs is increasingly interested in getting investors from the main cities of Latin America. Lima and Panama City have proven to be major successes, and there is definitely a demand for a high energy nightclub like Señor Frogs in the city environment." Señor Frogs would like to open in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Sao Paulo & Rio de Janeiro, Santiago and Caracas as well. "Going to the city means bigger investments," states Greg, "something in the area of 2-5 million dollars!"

The opening of the Señor Frogs in Panama was extremely successful. After the December launch they were the main millennium attraction for locals and today can boast 1000 - 2000 guests every day. The atmosphere is energetic and the music is selected from years of experience. A live band has been specially gathered to play at the Panama restaurant as a "house band".
