Space Club, Barcelona, Spain
January 27, 2006
Space Club Barcelona, property of the Matinee Group and a franchise of the famous Space Ibiza, sought a color illumination scheme to provide a touch of distinction and class to its interior as part of an extensive refurbishment.
Matinee Group management approached Martin’s Spanish representative, ECLER, to help produce a tailor-made project that would give the discothèque this air of distinction by means of dynamic lighting.
ECLER, working with installer Pere Cantin, used some 180 Martin Architectural Alien 05 color changers to create a decorative lighting system that is trendsetting in Spain’s leisure sector.
The Alien 05’s, a stylish, recessed color changer with eight interchangeable dichroic colors and adjustable intensity, are discreetly located in the upper and lower sections of the walls and columns and achieve the effect of the entire discothèque instantly changing color. This relatively new concept enables the club to better adapt to its clientele on any given night.
In a one-of-a-kind effect unique to Space Barcelona, a row of Alien 05’s illuminate a panel made up of 1,000 glasses of water, and in another unique look methacrylate clad columns at the center of the room hide additional lighting that helps transform the environment.
Dance floor lighting includes MAC 250 and MAC 500 profile spots, MX-10 scanners, Wizard effect lights and CX-10 color and pattern effects. Lighting design is by ECLER and Pere Cantin.
