January 20, 2000
The Star Cruises’ ship the Superstar Leo features a magnificent 7-deck Grand Lobby and is one of the largest cruise ships in the world at nearly 270 meters long. It accommodates 2,800 passengers and is maintained by a crew of 1,100.
Superstar Leo was designed specifically for the expanding Asian market, sailing on two and three-night cruises between Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia. It is the first cruise vessel Star Cruises has contracted Meyer Wharf of Germany to build for them.
The liner’s entertainment possibilities are virtually endless. A two-deck 1,000 seat Moulin Rouge theatre features a revolving stage which allows Broadway-style shows to be staged. The theatre includes 20 Martin Pal automated framing spots, 6 MAC 600 moving heads, rows of RoboColor Pro 400 color changers as well as Pro 400s for fiber optic.
Martin lighting can be found elsewhere on board including the Observation Lounge which is outfitted with 6 RoboColor Pro 400s, 8 RoboScan 518s, 8 Punisher X 250s and 16 RoboColor IIIs. A disco designed specifically for kids is equipped with 10 RoboColor Pro 400s, 4 RoboScan Pro 218s and a Centrepiece.
Electrical suppliers for Superstar Leo are Funa GmbH who have expressed their satisfaction with the support received from Martin’s subsidiary in Singapore as well as from Martin’s Malaysian distributor.
