The Bleu Room
August 14, 2001
Detroit’s glowing dance club scene is burning brighter in 2001 than ever before. New Year’s Eve marked the grand opening of The Bleu Room Experience, Detroit’s spanking new dance venue, whose ambitious design is just the kind of stuff the doctors of urban development ordered for the revival of downtown Detroit.
Located in a former movie theater in Detroit’s now revitalized art deco district, The Bleu Room is the result of a million dollar makeover, with a quarter million of that invested solely in its audio systems and Martin effect lighting.
The Bleu Room’s impressive array of Martin lighting was designed and supplied by Advanced Lighting and Design of Troy, Michigan. Advanced used the Martin ShowDesigner to create the dramatic lighting package, building first a virtual club environment and then pre-programming 80 percent of the lighting cues.
To meet the owners’ strict demands for a smooth industrial look, Senior Designer and Advanced co-owner, Bob Sullivan, chose 12 versatile Martin MiniMac Profiles, with an additional two MAC 500s for added industrial clout.
The entire set-up was made possible by Martin LightJockey controllers, chosen for their user-friendly programming and operation.
