The Horrors and Aura at Brixton Academy
August 15, 2012
Skinny-jeaned songsters The Horrors recently took to the stage of the 02 Brixton Academy in London for their first headline gig there. Supported by Richard Martin Lighting (RML) and HDO Productions, Matthew Button designed a ‘trippy, almost night club lighting’ show using RML’s most recent purchase, MAC Auras.
Matthew said of the award-winning units, “Having used most of the mainstream LED wash lights on the market, the MAC Auras are extremely quick with a wonderful zoom and color saturation. I would use them again. The added effect of the aura lens glow makes them into a very different lamp for some applications.”
The MAC Aura is the first compact LED moving head wash light with zoom that offers never-before-seen, eye-candy aura effects yet also functions as a highly capable single-lens wash with fully pre-mixed color. A ground-breaking optical system combines multicolor LEDs with backlight aura color mixing to produce an all new visual palette that takes the synthetic look out of LED for truly unique lighting designs.
The show was a good opportunity for the band to get warmed up for what is shaping up to be a big summer for them. The Horrors are scheduled to play numerous festivals across the UK, including Reading & Leeds, Bestival and Latitude....and if the Brixton Academy gig was anything to go by they are not to be missed!
