Brooklyn Tabernacle’s One Special Christmas
February 12, 2003
New York’s four time Grammy Award winning Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir presented a very special Christmas show just before the holidays entitled One Special Christmas.
Prior to its three-week December run at the Brooklyn Tabernacle Church, the producers of the show approached Lighting Designer Demfis Fyssicopulos with a unique idea - expressing the Choir’s songs via color and light.
Demfis had the perfect solution, an automated color and light show featuring some of Martin’s latest MAC 2000 luminaires. The show, a live choir driven Christmas show with added dramatic elements, was divided into children´s and adult Cantatas, a challenge of interpretation to say the least.
Demfis incorporated 15 Martin MAC 2000 Performance and 36 MAC 2000 Wash into the show. Songs were articulated through a variety of special lighting effects such as MAC 2000 Performance fire effects on the proscenium and an abundance of color projection from the MAC 2000 Wash. All lighting and special effects were aligned to time code. International Entertainment Production and Meeting Presentation Group (IEP-MPG) supplied the Martin lighting.
