Browns Bridge Community Church: Uniting through Dynamism

October 01, 2008

Browns Bridge Community Church is on a mission to provide an authentic and dynamic environment for worshippers, and using this environment to foster a genuine community both within and outside of its walls.

For non-church goers or for those visiting for the first time, entering a building which seats over 2000 people can be overwhelming, but Browns Bridge seems to have overcome this challenge.

With a production team that is none other than passionate and highly skilled, the church has been able to create a presentation recognized for tearing down walls.

MAC boost
When looking for lighting to help with his vision, Lighting Designer C. Andrew Dunning (Nashville) turned to Martin’s MAC line. Using 18 MAC 250 Wash™ and 8 MAC 2000 Profile™ fixtures, Dunning designed a unique display with the purpose of giving a boost to the worship experience.

Dunning attributes cost-effectiveness as one reason why he was able to introduce moving head lighting to the venue. “The Martin products met the price point we needed,” he says. “They allowed us to specify moving fixtures in places that other manufacturers’ fixed fixtures had seemed to be the only option.”

No regrets
Quality and market steadfastness was also a factor in choosing these MAC’s for the job.

“It started with the MAC 250,” says Benjamin Hunt, current Lighting Designer at Browns Bridge. “We wanted to stay away from fixtures that we would have to change out. We decided that the MAC 250 would be great because it was a moving head and we haven’t regretted it.”

The MAC 250 Wash is a powerful yet compact and remarkably efficient wash light with extraordinarily fast and quiet movement, a variable frost filter for zoom effect and a CMY color mixing system with a complementing color wheel.

It features a 250W long life discharge lamp, 6 position color wheel, mechanical dimming, rapid strobe effects and more. With all of these benefits in a moving head, it is no wonder why this series is becoming a favorite within the House of Worship market.

Doubly surprised
Hunt also commends Martin’s MAC 2000 Profile for being bright, yet flexible. “We wanted brightness, focus and a rotating gobo wheel,” he says.

The MAC 2000 Profile is a high performance luminaire. Equipped with a 1200W short arc discharge lamp, two rotating gobo wheels, full CMY color mixing, effect wheel and a combined color and gobo wheel, the MAC 2000 Profile creates dynamic effects perfect for most places of worship.

“We were doubly surprised when we viewed the MAC 250 with the MAC 2000,” Hunt continues. “The (MAC) 250 held its ground. It’s good to know that you can use two products simultaneously and still get one consistent look.”

This cohesiveness while in action is an attribute that the MAC family is renowned for in addition to the tremendous amount of choice it gives to designers.

Color mixing is very rock n’ roll,” Hunt adds. “We’ve just really enjoyed the Martin line.”
