Buckhead Church

Buckhead Church

October 30, 2008

Located in Atlanta, Georgia, Buckhead Church is a place of worship that has become part of a creative wave sweeping the United States and enhancing the worship experience. Its atmosphere only helps to galvanize the faith of those who call it their home church and encourages those who are new to the message of Jesus. This is Buckhead Church, a non-denominational place of worship and a satellite campus of North Point Community Church located in Alpharetta, Georgia. Buckhead Church is part of a growing number of churches who have resolved to not only spread the message, but to create an experience that is unforgettable through praise and production.

The message, which is received both live and via video amidst catchy music is accompanied by dynamic and awe-striking lighting design and supported by 18 MAC 250 Wash, 4 MAC 250 Krypton, 8 MAC 250+ and 4 MAC 300.

“We chose the Mac 250 Wash and 250 Krypton fixtures because they are extremely bright 250W fixtures and are very reasonably priced,” said current Lighting Designer, Jared Roman. “Because we were on a tight budget we decided to get more fixtures rather than a few really bright movers. The Mac 250+s and the Mac 300s were fixtures we already owned when we moved into this building.”

This is resonated by C. Andrew Dunning, the initial Lighting Designer. “The Martin products met the price-point we needed. They allowed us to specify moving fixtures in places that other manufacturers’ fixed fixtures seemed to be the only option.”

The MAC 250 Wash is a powerful yet compact and remarkably efficient wash light with extraordinary fast and quiet movement, a variable frost filter for zoom effect and a CMY color mixing system with a complimenting color wheel.

“I was very impressed,” says Dunning. “the intensity was great (especially considering the fact that they are 250W fixtures); the colors were intense and the movement was smooth. The fixtures are small in size and lightweight.”

“We are also extremely impressed by the speed, light quality and brightness of all the Mac 250s,” adds Roman.

The MAC 250 Krypton, also used in this project is a high performance profile with a separate gobo and color wheel, an achromatic lens system and a rotating prism. Its silent operation makes it perfect for this type of application.

This conglomeration of fixtures lends to making the worship experience an amazing environment for visitors and is well worth the investment.

A special thanks to Clark Pro Media, system integrator and dealer for this project. Clark Pro is one of the Southeast's leading design/build firms. Their participation helped to make it all possible.
