Orlando, Florida is arguably the center of convention activity in America, and with Disney Resorts harboring a large share of that business, competing facilities need to do all they can to attract clients.

Caribe Royale Resort Suites & Villas in Orlando, Florida has turned to Martin Professional to help spruce up their convention facility, incorporating nearly 200 automated scanners in 7 different conference rooms to add a bit of flash to the bottom line. Other Orlando convention facilities, including the Wyndham Hotel Convention Center, are doing the same.

Caribe Royale has installed 196 Martin RoboScan 812 scanners in 7 different rooms, covering a total area of 24,000 square feet. All lights were supplied by ROS Audio and are controlled via a Martin LightJockey PC-based controller. Packed full of features including 11 beautiful dichroic colors working alongside 11 gobo patterns, the 812 is not only compact but flexible, ideal for multi-purpose convention rooms.The RoboScan 812’s are discreetly positioned in the approximately 20-foot high ceiling and, when not operating, go virtually unnoticed. Lighting Designer for the facility was Robert Laughlin.

Lighting and Audio Programmer, Mark Tatalick of Presentation Services has used the 812’s in the Grand Caribbean Ballroom for a variety of events including band lighting, dinner table illumination at Gala and corporate dinners, as ballyhoo for initial impression when people enter the room and more. The most common use, says Mark, is to illuminate the tabletops white, which gives a very elegant look. The lighting can also be customized for special client and corporate needs such as pinspot illumination to highlight products or other displays as for example at a recent Tupperware corporate event.

The 812’s are also used for specific happenings such as the Super Bowl, World Series and World Cup sporting events, Millennium events, balls and Gala dinners. Air walls conveniently move to split the room into smaller meeting areas and 812’s are still available to provide gobo projection on walls in each room.
