El Divino of Ibiza

November 18, 2002

Situated in the heart of Ibiza, that magical White Island and favorite clubbers get-away, is El Divino, a glamorous harbor side club and restaurant surrounded by yachts and views of Ibiza Old Town.

The venue´s stunning location and international clientele make it one of the most high-profile clubs around. Built in 1992 and located just next to Ibiza Town´s marina, this intimate venue attracts a cosmopolitan crowd from across Europe.

The venue’s owner sought to draw attention to the building’s exterior by illuminating the restaurant’s terrace canopies in a powerful wash of light that could be visible from Ibiza Town, situated across the port. The terrace’s position is without a doubt the most enviable in clubland Ibiza, resting on the edge of the marina, and looking out across the harbor at the splendid view of Ibiza Old Town.

Lighting Designer Michael Jordan of Nightclub Sound and Light (NASL Ltd) was approached to create an eye-catching design for the terrace canopies. Michael placed nine Martin Exterior 200 color changers (supplied by NSAL Ltd.) on the canopies’ support poles to provide an even projection of color. As the El Divino terrace serves as both a restaurant and the club´s chill out area, Michael had to be careful the illumination was subtle enough not to disturb the guests seated beneath.

Martin effect lighting can be found inside the venue as well. El Divino´s interior consists of a cozy dance floor, mezzanine, and stage that come alive in a different theme each night. Offering a slightly different experience nightly, each promotion entices a different crowd of clubbers to the dancefloor.

Effect lighting consists of 4 Martin MAC 500 profile spots, 4 RoboScan 518 scanners, 26 RoboScan 812 scanners and 8 Destroyers with a Jem ZR 33 smoke machine providing the projection haze. Control for all effects, as well as the Exterior lighting, is from a Martin LightJockey Controller (Club version).
