Jimmy Buffet and Bandit Lites Journey to “The Far Side of the Earth”

July 03, 2002

Jimmy Buffett and his Coral Reefer Band are once again taking their
high-energy, mass sing-a-long extravaganza on the road. This tour is dubbed
“Far Side of the World” in support of his new album of the same
name. True to the name, this year’s look and feel represents that of the
African Savannah complete with a giant Baobab tree.

Long time lighting designer Sid Strong has once again called on Bandit Lites
to supply the lighting system. Strong decided on a Martin moving light
package that lights the audience as much as the band. He utilizes 32
MAC 2000 and 10 MAC 500 profile spots for gobo projections and 40 MAC 600s for cyc washing as well as for audience illumination. Also incorporated are 3 powerful Martin Atomic strobes.

The tour is set to play several legs visiting amphitheaters and arenas across the US all summer long.
